Resources for Teachers:

NASET (National Association of Special Education Teachers)
NASET is a professional organization that provides a plethora of resources geared towards helping others understand the different fields associated with special education. It also gives teachers opportunities to gain or provide insight through their online e-publications.

CEC (Council for Exceptional Children)
CEC has currently over 27,000 CEC members around the world. It provides a platform for teachers to access current research journals and webinars, attend conventions to gain knowledge, and share ideas via community boards. People can also join subdivisions and special interest groups through CEC.

CLD (Council for Learning Disabilities)
CLD provides teachers with access to a variety of informative articles as well as access to a convention to learn more about their interested fields.

APBS (Association of Positive Behavior Supports)
APBS is an association aiming to connect professionals who are interested in behavior management. It allows teachers to share their ideas through webinars, journals, and newsletters.

IASE (International Association for Special Education)
IASE connects special education professionals worldwide through biannual conferences in a variety of countries and the publication of an annual journal.

PTA toolkit
The National PTA provided a general toolkit for families of special education students. They have provided different tools, services, and national organizations.

ESSA Flex
This guide, written by the Department of Education, is to help parents understand what the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) underlines. They “hope that this document empowers you with information that will help you advocate for better education for your child and every child in your State and district and help you make the right choices for your family.”

IDEAs that Work
This resource provides insight for both teachers and families about academic centers and social, emotional, and behavioral skills. They strive to prepare children and youth with disabilities for success.

Affordable Colleges Online
This guide is about college resources for students with disabilities. It “outlines some college disability resources and how students with disabilities can benefit from them.” It recognizes that students with disabilities often require additional support to succeed in college and it aims to provide that.

National Youth Leadership Network
This organization lessens the divide between people with disabilities all around the world. It includes videos of inspirational speakers, blog posts with tips of handling things like school and friends, and educational documentaries about disabilities and more. It includes information on everything from disabilities to youth leadership.

Special Needs Alliance
This resource provides parents with information about attorneys practicing disability and public benefits law. It also helps educate parents with the law according to special needs trusts, government benefits, and education for a neurodivergent child.

American Disabilities Act Information Page
This website was created by the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and details the American Disabilities Act. It includes the ADA Standards for Accessible Design for those with disabilities, public accomodations, along with other helpful details to keep in mind.
